For the last four-ish weeks, we've started to fall into our standard routine of life here in Chicago together. The first little bit, it was kind of irksome to share a bed after having our own large beds for so long. The first weekend, I had a three-day weekend from work, so we went and picked out a dining table and chairs, got ourselves a TV stand from Ikea (which we managed to build without getting a divorce). It was the end of the semester for me, so I had a lot of homework to do, and the weather was kind of cold and gloomy, so really that first weekend wasn't anything too exciting.

Lawrence had an interview at NSK-America the week after he arrived (there has been communication between the two branches as to Lawrence's possible employment), and he was offered a position there the same day, so he started working the week following. (After less than two weeks of being in the country!) We had thought we'd applied for his social security card along with all the immigration paperwork, but it hasn't arrived yet, so Lawrence had to go in and apply for one, but that should be here soon, and now the government will be able to tax us (Yay...).

Lawrence met a few of my classmates; the program had an end-of-year reading at a cafe/bookstore called
The Book Cellar, where I, and a few of my classmates, read some of our work, and some work from the literary journal I worked on last semester,
Oyez Review. Then there was mingling at a bar close by, because, you know, writers and alcohol.
The weather has gotten nicer, the trees have all leafed out, we got ourselves a new set of dishes and pots and pans. The school year is halted, and we're enjoying spring.
